Comment by David Trout on February 28, 2012 at 5:20am These wasps seem to have amazing potential, but one ought to be careful introducing a bolus of insects in the garden. There are many, many examples of this kind of biological manipulation gone awry. The wooly adelgid is just one example which is close to home. Sure, it was imported from China so one might make the argument that since it was not indigenous then I might be comparing apples to oranges. Nevertheless, this pest has caused havoc and utter devastation in our forests. P. Allen is introducing 50,000 wasps into his garden. I don't have any experience or knowledge regarding this wasp beyond a cursory look up on the web, so I am not knowledgeable on this subject. However, a primary principle in permaculture is diversity. Just sayin'....
