Profile Information

Why are you interested in joining the guild? (If you are outside the Knoxville region, why are you interested in joing the guild?)
I am very interested in permaculture, and the courses I have found searching online have all been out of state, making them near impossible for me to get to. When I saw that there was possibly an offering of courses here, I wanted to reply my interest. In order to do that, i had to sign up :)
What neighborhood do you live in?
Right now, I live in an apartment in a small town near my family. for 20 years before that I lived in north Knoxville.
What skills or experiences do you have that can be shared?
Hmm. I'm just a regular person and I have 45 years of life experience to share. That's about it. I'm not a master gardener or anything.
About me:
I'm very interested in learning about how we can grow most of our own food, build our own homes, etc. Even when I was a teenager, i remember driving past places and thinking how much better a place would look with some landscaping, and how one could get double duty out of that if it were edible. Beautiful outdoor spaces captivate me. I didn't know at the time there was a name for that kind of thing, so I took a practical career that provided a reliable paycheck. I would love to make my contribution to society in different work than I have now, in a way more suitable to myself as an individual. Perhaps in a way that is more positive than I perceive our western healthcare system to be. I can't just drop my job all at once (I'm not independently wealthy!) and so I have to work towards it one step at a time. I would love to learn about permaculture and then go help other people with what I've learned. I also think that perhaps if we grew more of our own food and had pleasant surroundings, we may prevent much illness. Anyway, enough about me!
