Building Permanent Culture in Knoxville
'
We are a collective of people in and around the Tennessee Valley who exchange time, skills, and ideas to build strong communities. Our members are artists, writers, farmers, business people, skilled workers, poets, teachers, and activists who share the vision of a world in which all people have equal access to resources and where creativity and cooperation are core values.
A time bank allows people to exchanges talents and skills for other services that they need without paying cash. The time bank introduces members to each other and facilitates the exchange. For every hour of services given to another member, you earn one time dollar, which can be traded for services from any other member of the time bank--for example, getting a ride, learning to use a computer, or mowing a lawn. The time dollar system values everyone's contributions equally, so that no matter what service you give, one hour equals one time dollar.

Comment by Deborah Patterson on May 24, 2011 at 1:27pm Hi Cheryl! And to everyone who has joined so far ... Welcome!!!
New members get 3 time credits to spend on services when they join. You'll see a message regarding time credits soon. Also, we will be holding a timebank kickoff/ potluck celebration soon ... to give ourselves a chance to meet other members in person.
Any suggestions as to when and where we should hold our kickoff? Weekends? Evenings?
Deborah
