Has there been any movement on this issue since July?

Hey William,

No, there has not been any movement. I talked to Ronnie Nease (head of the Animal Control Board) a week ago and he said that with the swine flu outbreak (his main job is with the Health Department), he hasn't had time to pursue it. He said that the process is being bogged down with the city's law department, who was supposed to find out what needed to be changed in city and county codes to make it legal.

We may need to go another direction soon though. I heard that some of the new city council members may be supportive of urban hens. Maybe we should get together again, as a group, to reassess our game plan?

Chad, thanks for your note. A meeting sounds like a good idea: to meet some new folks and discuss what's been done. Do you have a date and/or place in mind? Will Dunklin - Chicken Outlaw

That's what we all need to know. Is the city stone-walling and hoping we'll just go away? Has some one just blown it off? Have they really been overwhelmed with other - legitimately more pressing - issues? Don't know. That's why we're meeting at 2pm Sunday 1-10-2010 at the downtown public library to discuss, regroup and mobilize. At least one and maybe more city council members will be in attendance.
