Building Permanent Culture in Knoxville
Hi Everyone!
CAC Beardsley Farm will be holding a hen workshop on Saturday, May 21. We have 4 hens at the farm and we are excited about the ordinance change to allow residents of Knoxville to keep hens as well. Our goal in holding the workshop in May 21 is to give those interested in raising hens an opportunity to learn and those who have experience raising hens an opportunity to share. And we at Beardsley can talk a bit about how we put our happy hens to work from time to time.
We have invited Dr. Kelley Robbins, poultry specialist at the UT Vet school to attend, and he said he'll be there. We will also have the family who is currently building us a new chicken tractor present to tell everyone how they built it.
Are any of you Knoxville Urban Hen Coalition members interested to attend? We would love to have any of you there to share your experiences. Additionally, is there one or two of you who might be willing to sort of "represent" the Knoxville Urban Hen Coalition? We thought it would be nice for everyone to hear few words from a couple of you about what it was like to get the ordinance changed, how the coalition came to form, etc.
If you are interested in coming out as representative of the Coalition, please let us know...beardsleyfarm@gmail.com OR 546 8446. We would really appreciate the help and expertise from any of you!
Thanks so much! Spring is fast approaching, rejoice, rejoice!
Liz Moniz and the Beardsley Farm Team
