On March 17th we will have a foraging outing for mushrooms at our farm in south Roane county: www.wingedelmfarm.com.
Let's plan on gathering at 9:30 that morning. We can head out soon after for a few hours. Plan on returning to the house for a light lunch and and an examination of our finds.
We are still looking for that one knowledgeable person to join the rest of us amateurs. Make sure to bring some sturdy walking shoes and a harvest knife.
All are welcome.

Thanks. I'm going to post a few thoughts on the mushroom group page about some items we found.
But let's definitely plan another hunt.
Comment by Chad Sharp on March 17, 2012 at 3:09pm Brian, thank you to you and your wife for organizing this event and opening your farm and home to all of us. Had fun we should plan another soon.
Comment by Khann Chov on March 17, 2012 at 7:30am Brian, i understand. thanks and see you soon!
Comment by Brian Miller on March 17, 2012 at 6:32am Hmm, probably not on the dogs. We have chickens, ducks, geese and cattle roaming the property. And, we have three farm dogs. Your dog might be fine. But the possibilities of mischief and calamity loom large.
Comment by Khann Chov on March 16, 2012 at 10:37pm are dogs welcome?
Comment by Brian Miller on March 16, 2012 at 1:45pm Sure come on out. I feel obliged to state that someone thinks we are going to be too early. But, the weather should be fine. I went for a short walk today and found precious little: a few turkey tails (inedible), a stinkhorn (inedible) and a puffball (partially eaten by wildlife). But this same person said that we might have success with Morels. So bring sharp eyes and at the very least we will have a nice time...and plan for the future.
We are going to have a few things on hand to eat. But if you can bring out something to snack on.
I did spot a lot of wildflowers: violets and little brown jugs. So a camera would not be amiss.

Comment by Khann Chov on March 16, 2012 at 11:01am I would like to come to this! I have a crew of 4-6. hope it's not too late to rsvp! really looking forward to it.
Comment by Cheryl Morgan on March 13, 2012 at 10:24pm So there 8 of us going ? Looking forward to this. There will actually be three in my crew. Coming from Seymour .
Comment by Brian Miller on March 12, 2012 at 1:28pm Well, it sounds like we have a good crew. With the warm damp weather this week we will all hope for success. The simplest, but not the shortest, way to get to our farm is as follows:
I-75 south from Knoxville
Exit 62 TN322/Oakland Rd. and turn right.
Drive 6.6 miles.
Our driveway is on the right. The mailbox has a nice blue sign that reads 1285.
We will have a sign at the entrance. Long gravel drive up to the red barn and our home. Call 865-717-6222 if you want alternate, shorter and more scenic directions or need any other info.
